Vaccination rates
The majority of eligible adults with a risk condition did not receive a pneumococcal vaccine in 20221
Pneumococcal vaccination rates of eligible adults 50+, 20221
Based on 2022 CDC BRFSS data.
9 out of 10 adults aged 50-64 years who were diagnosed with IPD or hospitalized with pneumococcal pneumonia had at least one risk condition.1
The CDC lowering the age-based recommendations to 50+ was based on several factors, including the potential to improve vaccination rates and ease of implementation.1
